Lady Circe, 1921-2004 Toledo Witch Founded Church
posted by Webmaster on Saturday June 12, @12:04AM
from the dept.
Wicca Toledo Blade

Lady Circe, as Toledoans the last 35 years knew Jeffrey B. Cather, who was a shop owner, a witch, and founder and queen of a church, the Sisterhood & Brotherhood of the Old Religion, died Sunday in her Old West End home of respiratory failure. She was 82.

She opened a boutique on Floyd Street around 1970. The shop's most recent incarnation, House of Circe, opened in her home last year. She was a registered nurse at Parkview Hospital when she founded the church. But she'd known she was a witch since she was 12, she told The Blade in 1972.

Devil's Advocate Occult 101 Or A Primer On Book Burning?
by Bob G. Stewart
The Marshall News

I recently heard a television evangelist going on and on, in great detail, about a certain series of books that he was recommending his followers speak out against. And while I agree with him that these books may not present the best of ideals for our children, I am concerned about the vitriolic anger with which such preachers put forth their own opinions.

I am also concerned about how they alone supposedly speak for God, as if what flows out of their mouths comes straight from the throne of The Almighty Himself.

News By Ginger

Lady Liberty wants you!

During the week of Summer Solstice (June 20th), PUC will host our 4th annual I AM post card campaign. The post cards are to state clearly and simply "I am a Pagan ----fill in the blank---" (For example; Mother, police officer, kindergarten teacher, writer, veteran, little league coach.) These cards should be sent during the week of Summer Solstice, just like in previous years, when we estimated that tens of thousands of our IAM post cards from Pagans reached the American leaders. We want to even increase those impressive figures this year for the IAM4 campaign!

New Book Series W.I.T.C.H. Pushes Witchcraft, Astrology
posted by Webmaster on Friday May 28, @04:11PM

Book Reviews WorldNetDaily

A new Disney book series for adolescent girls aptly named W.I.T.C.H. promotes witchcraft and magic, a development that adds to the arsenal of those who criticize the company for being anti-family.

"Mickey Mouse leading children to Hell" is the headline on one website alerting readers to the new books.

"[The books are] about five teenage girls (ages 13-14) who practice witchcraft. Disney is not only selling witchcraft, they are selling lust and astrology – to children! Look at the way they have them dressed!" shouts the site.

According to a statement from Disney Publishing Worldwide, the book series was introduced in the U.S. last month after years of success in other nations.

"Since W.I.T.C.H. was first introduced in Italy in 2001, we have experienced an unprecedented global response to the characters and the concept," said Robert Iger, president and COO of The Walt Disney Company. "W.I.T.C.H. is a great example of Disney's ability to create and launch exciting properties in different parts of the world and by the many talented people at Disney's different divisions. Its expansion into the world's largest market through multiple business units of the company should ensure duplicating the success it has seen around the world."

The True Meaning Of Kamasutra - For Most People
posted by Webmaster on Sunday May 23, @08:04AM

New Age By Mabel Iam

"Nothing lies in our minds that hasn’t before been in our senses."
ARISTOTLE

For most people –especially in the Western world- Kamasutra is merely associated with several different love-making positions, a combination of acrobatics and pornography. But for the Eastern mind, the true meaning of Kamasutra is way beyond that purely physical interpretation. For them, sex –in all of its forms- is sacred: it reproduces the ultimate creative act, the union of the masculine and the feminine cosmic principles; sex is the cause of the creation and manifestation of the universe. According to Tantra, sexual intercourse, however trivial it may seem, is sacred, cosmic; even when the lovers do not acknowledge this fact, which is usually the case.

America On Trial

Book Reviews By Defense Attorney Alan M. Dershowitz

In America On Trial, defense attorney Alan Dershowitz looks at some of the most significant trials in our nation's history, from the Salem witch trials to the O.J. Simpson case.

Here is an excerpt:

The Salem Witchcraft Trials
Date: 1692
Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Defendants: Approximately twenty-five in 1692, but several hundred men and women were arrested and imprisoned on charges of witchcraft between 1648 and 1706
Charge: Witchcraft
Verdict: Guilty
Sentence: Thirteen women and six men hanged; one man pressed to death with heavy stones; at least four others imprisoned (two dogs were also executed as suspected accomplices

Although the Inquisition never reached the colonies — Catholics were a tiny minority among the colonists — the Salem witchcraft trials bore some striking resemblances, writ small, to what had roiled the Continent two centuries earlier. They paralleled, in some ways but not in others, the trial of Joan of Arc in 1431. The pre-Enlightenment church was a dominant influence in the Bay Colony during the seventeenth century, but other influences were also at play against the women who were accused — primarily by other women — of the capital crime of witchcraft.

Married team decry present day paganistic culture

There is a need to evangelize the world to counteract the dark forces dominating it, said Catholic evangelist Lloyd Greenhaw. Speaking to a charismatic audience at Annunciation Church May 8, he said evangelization is the primary mission of the Church and therefore the mission of every Catholic.

"No believer in Christ can avoid this task," he said. "The Lord has always called us to come out of ourselves and to share with others the gifts we possess starting with our most precious gift of all, our Catholic faith."

The Magic Love. When We Speak Of Sexual Magic

Magick By Mabel Iam

“To love is to reach beyond imagination to the magical, heavenly melody of the stars. To love is to live the adventure of exploring the depths of the heart”.

Magic is the art of using the energy found in all of nature and the universe. The practice of magic requires knowledge of the spiritual laws that rule the material world. Most people are unaware that spiritual forces rule the physical world.

When we speak of sexual magic we are referring to knowledge of the conscious use of sexual energy.

News from WiccaNet
WiccaNet was born as Pagan Broadcasting Systems (PBS) on Beltaine 1985, when we be came the world's first Wiccan/pagan BBS.

Pagan Broadcasting Systems was run on a 4MgHz CPM Computer with 64K of ram and 400K of disk space and a 300 baud modem! You well may have palmtop computer with more power. It was known as PBS to its users, because even as recently as the late 80's we had to be careful of using the word Pagan "on the air." Later it became Cassandra-News, a Fido/Pods worldwide Wiccan/pagan echo system.

Pagan Broadcasting Systems was not alone for long Josh Gordon of the OTO started ThelemaNet in San Francisco; followed shortly by Phil Hansford with Mysteria in Los Angeles , and Brad Hicks with MagickNet in Kansas City; and finally Tony Iannotti (also of the OTO) with Baphonet in New York . This made the Wiccan/pagan BBS truly national.

At the end of the 80s', the number of Wiccan/pagan BBS grew to over 100 boards. The List of Bulletin Boards in North America that featured occult, metaphysical, or alternative religion topics was started by PBS in the 80s. The list has been painstakingly updated each month by Phil Hansford of Mysteria since the early 90s.
